The 80 Inches height gilded lacquer Buddha image in the attitude of opening the earth was erected by the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) on the auspicious occasion of King Rama 9, 80th Birthday Anniversary on December 5, 2007. The name ASITIVASSAPHASUK SIRAKAS Verbally means the great virtue Buddha of the King Rama 9, 80th Birthday Anniversary, protecting the RTAF personnel and all Thai People for their pleasant and peaceful lives
The consecration ceremony was conducted in the ordination hall of Wat Borwornniweth vihara, phra Nakorn District, Bangkok on December 18, 2007. Later, Buddha image has been enshrined at the pavilion of Pha Mahathat Stupa, Doi Inthanon Mountain, Chiang Mai since August 13, 2008.
